Matted Or Overlay Albums
Matted or overlay albums are the most conventional and proper types of wedding albums. They feature pages that are made from very hard cardboard paper, into which printed photos are inserted and held in place with glue.
The cardboard mounts on each page are designed to sit higher than the photos to keep them from touching each other when the album is closed. Matted or overlay wedding albums can be used for both portrait and landscape photos and are sometimes referred to as reversible albums.
Flush Mount Wedding Albums
Flush-mount wedding albums are considered more modern than matted or traditional wedding albums in that they feature photographic prints without borders on a rigid surface. Each page could take more than one photo, depending on the desired arrangement.
Flush mount albums have a cover that is attached to a thick board backing. The cover is usually covered in fabric or paper and then glued down to the board backing. They also have a photo mat for framing each picture as well as an opening that allows for inserting each photo into its own slot for display purposes.
There are two varieties of flush-mount albums, and they include:
Coffee table books
This type of flush-mount album features printed pictures with distinguishable borders that may overlap each other if there’s more than one picture on the page.
Magazine-style album
The magazine-style flush mount album features a full page of printed pictures overlapping each other but without recognizable borders.
Generally, flush-mount wedding albums are best if you’re looking for a modern-type photo album for your wedding. However, special care should be taken and ensure that a protective surface is applied to each page to prevent them from sticking together and ruining the pictures when the album is closed.
Lay-flat Wedding Photo Albums
The lay-flat wedding photobook is very similar to the traditional wedding albums in that both have thin, flexible pages.
However, unlike traditional albums, the lay-flat photobook lays flat on the surface without any bends or curves in the pages. It is a good choice for DIY wedding albums.
Digital Storybook Wedding Albums
A digital storybook wedding album is usually small and can come in different shapes, depending on your choice. With this type of album, the wedding images are printed directly onto the pages of the album as opposed to inserting or gluing the photos into the album like other album types.
Since this wedding album type requires print, it has to be done by your wedding photographer, but you can select what pictures should be put in the album.
Digital storybook wedding albums are great because they do not have flexible or bendable pages, but they do have a wide variety of design options available. However, it might take up to two (2) weeks or even a month to make one (depending on the number of pictures to be included and the required size) because they require professional printing in photo labs.
Gift Or Parent Wedding Album
Gift or parent wedding albums are usually smaller than the main wedding albums, measuring about 20cm square. They are perfect for special gift items to the parents of the couple or even other close friends and relatives. It features a smaller scale of the pictures in the original photo album, or it could be just a few selected photos designed into a sizable photo album.
This type of wedding album can be specially designed for each loved one you want to give your packaged wedding clicks. It is a great way to share the memories of your special day with those you love.
Storybook Wedding Albums
Storybook wedding albums are designed to narrate your wedding day events. The pictures are usually arranged in chronological order in the album.
Alongside your wedding images, the storybook wedding album can be designed to narrate your special day with texts, graphics, and different creative colors.
