Ask For The Members In The Team
It is important to enquire about the total number of people on the photographer’s team and if all of them will be present at your wedding. Get to know the assistant, videographer, and any other member of the team. This will help you in planning the total number of guests that may be present on your special day.
Get To Know Your Photographer
Additionally, I suggest you get to know the photographer by asking questions, such as:
- How long have you been covering wedding events?
- Do you think you can capture high-quality pictures of my special day?
- What type or style of wedding photography are you familiar with?
- How many wedding events have you covered this year?
- Is there any part of the day you don’t or won’t photograph?
You might also want to know about the photographer’s location or studio. This is very important.

Ask For Testimonials And Samples
I highly recommend you ask the photographer for past clients’ reviews and work samples. You should ask the following:
- Do you have any reviews or testimonials?
- Can I view samples of your finished and complete albums?
- What do people say about your service?
Ask About Prints And Albums
Wedding photo albums are trendy and important. So, I suggest you ask the photographer if he/she/they provide albums and prints.
What Is Your Favorite Part Of A Wedding?
Weddings feature several picturesque opportunities ranging from intricate moments, such as the first official kiss, to the vast reception activities. I fancy wedding receptions. Some wedding photographers might like the main ceremony, which might feature the signing of marriage certificates and the exchange of rings.
Although the photographer’s favorite part of the wedding will not determine the quality of the work you will receive, it is still important to ask, so you will know what to expect. Thus, ask the following:
- Is there any part of the wedding you won’t photograph?
- How do you handle stressful parts of the day?
What Do Your Packages Include? Is Any Part Of Your Package Negotiable?
The name, cost, and content of wedding photography packages differ from one photographer to another. So, it is important to get to know what each available package might include and if it is negotiable. Furthermore, I suggest you can ask questions, such as:
- How many hours are included in your package?
- How many and what size of albums are included in each package?
- Do you offer frames in your packages? If yes, how many? If not, why?
- Do you offer customizable wedding photography packages?
- What items can a customizable package contain? And what is the least price you’d accept for such a package?
Ask About Referral Discounts
As you might already know, wedding photographers are expensive. So, I recommend you ask to know if the photographer gives discounts to those who bring referrals.
Remember To Discuss Your Venue
Your chosen wedding venue might be very special to you. So, you should find out if the photographer can cover the event in your desired location. You can ask the following questions:
- Our wedding will be at the beach/in a dark room/at sunset. Do you have experience with this?
- Our wedding will be underwater. Do you have a GoPro or high-grade waterproof camera?
- Don’t forget about the logistics
State Any Concerns Upfront
Your photographer is a human and vulnerable to a lot of things, such as falling sick or on the wedding day. So, it is alright to state your fears and seek clarification.
Some clients often ask me the following:
- What happens if you fall ill or there is an emergency?
- What is the backup plan?
Ask About The Tools
The first set of questions all my wedding clients usually ask me do include:
- What camera are you using?
- How many cameras do you have?
- Can it record HD or 4K or 8K videos?
- Can it capture and produce high-quality pictures?
You might not have any idea about tech or digital cameras, but it is very important and wise to know the capabilities of the equipment the photographer intends to use for your special day coverage.
Ask About The Deliverables
Likewise, I suggest you ask the following:
- How long after the wedding will the pictures take to get back? (FYI: Faster doesn’t always mean better.)
- How many photos will I receive from you after my wedding?
- How will I receive my images? (USB, Download, Album)
