Try your best to pose with confidence by arching your back and extending your legs. Avoid standing straight on facing the camera if you want to create an illusion of a slimmer look.
7 best boudoir poses for plus-size women and how to do them
If you want your boudoir photos to showcase confidence, glamor, and power, we highly recommend considering any of the styles below during your next plus-size boudoir photography session.
1. Lying on your stomach: Boudoir poses for plus-size women
Lying on the stomach is a classic and flattering boudoir pose suitable for everyone. This is one of my favorite plus size boudoir poses because it often helps accentuate my curves, making me feel more powerful and seductive while maintaining direct eye contact with the camera.
One of the most creative aspects of this pose is that it offers a variety of options for positioning your waist, head, and legs. In fact, you don’t even have to maintain direct eye contact with the camera to convey a powerful or seductive vibe in your picture.
You can choose to position your head to one side or simply look straight at an imaginary distant object if you feel shy about making direct eye contact with the photographer. However, I would suggest positioning your head in a way that would reveal your bosom.
Similarly, when lying on your stomach, you can choose to raise and cross your ankles or leave your legs straight. Regarding what to do with your arms, I’d highly recommend crossing them under your head as a makeshift pillow. Lastly, ensure you arch your lower back slightly. This will create a gentle curve in your spine and help emphasize your hips and waist.
2. Arching your back pose: Boudoir poses for plus-size women
Arching your back while standing or sitting is another powerful way to show off your curves and make your pictures appear more flattering.
To do this, stand tall with your shoulders back and your chest lifted to create a confident posture. Slightly separate your legs or simply cross one of your legs over the other to add a touch of elegance and create more depth in the pose.
Next, arch your back gently by pushing your chest slightly forward and your hips slightly backward. This will create a beautiful curve in your spine. You can look straight ahead if you prefer your boudoir plus-size photo to appear confident.
Alternatively, you can tilt your head to one side or look down or up for a more playful and sultry appearance. Similarly, you can place your hands on your hips or run your fingers through your hair. You can also consider letting them hang gracefully at your sides.
3. Lying on your back pose: Boudoir poses for plus-size women
This is one of the best waistline slimming plus size boudoir poses you can try. In fact, lying on your back is one of the most effective plus-size boudoir poses for creating a slimming effect on the waistline.
To achieve this boudoir pose plus size style, lie down flat on your back on a comfortable surface, such as a bed or a chaise lounge. Bend your knees and place your feet flat on the surface, hip-width apart. This is to create a stable base for the pose.
Next, tilt your pelvis slightly upward to create an illusion of a slimmer waistline. This move would naturally cause your lower back to press against the surface you are lying on, thereby emphasizing your curves.
You can let your head rest comfortably on the bed (or whatever surface/material you are using) if you’d also like to display your cleavage in the photo. Alternatively, you can raise your head to block the camera from capturing it, ensuring only your head (including your facial expression) and waistline are in focus.
If you want the boudoir photo to appear mysterious, you can put your hands in the air. Alternatively, you can let them rest close to your head or place them on your bosoms, depending on the mood you want the pictures to convey.
4. Boudoir poses for plus-size women: the Peekaboo style
The peekaboo style is a very simple and straightforward idea. Unlike the rest, this pose doesn’t require any special positioning of your body on the floor or a bed. It is one of my favorite confidence-boosting boudoir poses for curvy women.
It involves hiding behind a curtain or sheer fabric, revealing just enough to create an enticing and sensual image that can set your viewer or lover’s imagination wild. The peekabo pose is also one of the best sexy poses for plus size boudoir shoots.
For a more appealing look, consider choosing a location with soft, diffused lighting, such as a bedroom with curtains or a sheer canopy, for the boudoir photoshoot. Select a nice sheer fabric like lace, chiffon, or tulle for the peekaboo effect. If your room has a sheer curtain, you don’t have to bother shopping for new material.
Put on your prepared plus-size boudoir outfit and stand strategically behind the sheer curtain. You can consider revealing only your legs or one side of your body, with the other part hidden behind the scenes. Regardless of what part of your body you choose to display, ensure your face is not completely hidden from the camera.
5. Over-the-shoulder glance: Boudoir poses for plus-size women
The over-the-shoulder glance pose is a classic boudoir pose for everyone. It is a versatile pose that works well for me, and I believe it can also work for you and every other plus-sized or curvy woman. This pose would not only highlight your curves but also add an element of allure to them, making your picture look confident and glamorous.
To do this, stand tall in a well-lit room. Ensure your back is straight while backing the camera, and slightly separate your legs for stability and a more relaxed, natural look. Alternatively, you can cross one of your legs over the other to add elegance to the pose or emphasize your curves.
Next, sweep one of your hands over your shoulder or collarbone and place the other one on your hip or thigh, depending on the area you want to draw attention to. Turn your head slightly backward towards the camera and smile for a sultry effect.
6. Crouched pose: Boudoir poses for plus-size women
If you want to conceal your tummy or accentuate your curves, I highly recommend that you consider the crouched pose during your boudoir shoot. This is another easy boudoir pose idea for plus-size women you can try.
To achieve the crouching pose, find a comfortable surface to crouch down on. Bend your knees and slightly separate your legs to create a flattering curve along your thighs and hips. Keep your back straight, and slightly shift your weight forward to emphasize your hips and waistline.
Additionally, you can arch your lower back to create an elegant curve along your spine. You can look directly at the camera with confidence or tilt it slightly for a softer and more intimate look. Regarding what to do with your hands, you can place them on your thighs, gently cradle them on your face, or just run your fingers through your hair.
7. Bare back pose: Boudoir poses for plus-size women
The bare back pose is one of the best and easiest plus size boudoir photography poses for beginners. This style is similar to the peekaboo pose. It doesn’t require any special arrangement or positioning of your body on the floor or a bed.
All it requires is for you to embrace your body and stand or sit confidently while displaying your back to the camera. For a more intimate look, you can wear a loose, low-cut garment, such as a robe or sheet, that will cover half of your back. Alternatively, you can wear nothing at all.
Furthermore, you can shift your weight to one side to create a beautiful S-curve, highlighting your hips, or you can just stand straight and place your hands on your waist to draw attention to the area.
In short, there are several boudoir poses for plus-size women you can try. However, the best plus size boudoir poses include lying down, arching your back, looking over your shoulder, the peekaboo style, the crouched pose, and the bare back style.
